Time magazine reported recently that Americans spent $35.9 million on their pets in 2005…up from $17 billion a decade earlier. No details on the expenses.
Do you have a pet? What is the biggest pet-related cost at your house…food, medical, board, obedience classes, clothes?

We spent enough time and energy getting the fence fixed after last week's storm (so she wouldn't run away or stay stuck in the house) to qualify!
What about clothes for her to be fashionable?
Ok - so we all know my dog is my baby. And since I have been sick and in the recliner all weekend until today - she has been the perfect nurse.
The biggest expense on her was back in October when she got really sick. It ended up totaling $2000 for a month and a half of doc visits and meds. But she is my baby - what would I do without her?
BTW - she is back to being her normal, wonderful, sweet baby self.
Vets must be expensive but it's good to know Miss Marleigh is doing fine.
You should get pet insurance, leroy. Some companies are offering it free with your regular health coverage.
That is a very good idea.
A quick search on the topic shows it'd cost about $20 a month to insure a 2-year-old Lab. This particular insurance (petinsurance.com) pays 90% and you'd have a $50 per incident deductible. So the $2,000 bill you incurred would have cost you 10% or $200 plus your $50 deductible...plus the monthly premiums.

I will have to look into this! I love going home to see her at lunch. Nothing like having someone glad to see you walk in the door!
