Neshoba County Fair: My first as a hostess
While I've visited the Neshoba County Fair as a guest for a number of years, this is my first Fair as a hostess in our family's fair cabin. My husband, Sid, and his longtime friend and business partner S. Gale Denley of Bruce own a cabin on the north side of Founder's Square. Sid grew up in Neshoba County and he loves the Fair better than any time of the year. It's been a part of his life all of us life and he loves it.
The Denleys are close friends of mine as well, so that fact has made the transition from guest to being part of the family easier.
One thing I learned pretty quickly is that the Fair is like stocking up for a long winter - you need lots of supplies! But it's been a lot of fun and I've enjoyed cooking for the large group of college kids we had staying with us during the first weekend.
The Fair's a lot of work in the kitchen for everyone, but it's worth it. The friendships, the fellowship and the family time together makes it all worth it.
