WHAT MAKES IT EASIER FOR YOU?

What invention has made parenting easier for you? Here’s a few…

• Vibrating baby carriers

• Stroller that the car seat fits in

• Drive-through

• Wet wipes

• "Washable" crayons

• Pixar movies

• Easy, small digital cameras

• Yogurt in a tube

COLLECTING BABIES?

ABC News reported yesterday that because actress Angelina Jolie is pregnant, she must have a “compulsion to have children.” The report said when celebrities “collect babies” it’s a “way of self-medicating” and is a sign of deeper problems.

Seems to me a long, selfish vacation would be more in the vein of self-medicating than having a big family.

It seems no matter what someone does there’s going to be criticism. Brooke Shields suffered with post-partum depression so she must be a “bad” mother. Jolie wants to adopt less-fortunate children so she must be “collecting” babies. According to the report, the couple has three adopted children, Maddox (Cambodian), Pax (Vietnamese) and Zahara (Ethiopian), Shiloh, their biological daughter. This baby will make number five. She has said that they plan to have at least seven children.

Now I’m not saying that I don’t think she was a little different in her younger years. Most remember the tattooed wild child kissing her brother square on the mouth…ick, ick, ick. Madonna, Drew Barrymore and Tatum O’Neil were wild in their younger days and seem much tamer now.

Do you think people can grow up and change or do you think their core personality remains the same?

QOTD...

QOTD. No, this is not a great word for Scrabble. It’s my Question of the Day. I found a bunch on the Internet. They’ll be simple questions that make us think or laugh. Here’s today’s question:

Which would you rather live without…your cell phone or your e-mail?

HABITS...

What's your vice...coffee, chocolate, your Blackberry, checking your e-mail?

GOTTA HAVE YOUR STARBUCKS?

Gotta have your Starbucks? If so, then you're going to be in a world of pain today. Starbucks is closing from 5:30-8:30 tonight for employee training.

NOT THEIR BEST YEARS...

Recently I wrote a post asking you to remember "the best years of your life." I asked what music you were listening to in "your decade" and included a few photos of Rod Stewart.
My niece, who is only seven years younger than I remembers "my decade" well. She sent me the following photos and instructed that I take a look at Rod Stewart. I include for your viewing pleasure. This might not be their best decade.
See? Men have it bad, too.

COULD I MAKE THIS UP?

A disclaimer…if you blush easily then stop now. If you want to laugh, then read on.

Everybody know about Boudreaux’s Butt Paste.

You bought because the name was funny but it was a great product so you kept buying it.

Well, there’s a new kid on the block…

Bad Ass Booty Balm.

That’s right, I said it. And stick around ’cause it gets better.

A woman has launched a company called Least Likely 2 Breed and produces several products for mom and baby, all made with natural ingredients.

Bad Ass Booty Balm is, of course, for diaper rash.

But wait, there’s more…

For breast-feeding moms there’s Tough Titties Nipple Rub and expectant moms will be relieved to know about Roid Rage, a hemorrhoidal ointment. The slogan? Style Your Piles.

And if you ever get five minutes alone with your husband again, try the lubricant…Mother Effer’s Va-J-J Jelly.

And they make great gifts.

Yes, it’s true. Could I make this stuff up??

Check it out…

Everybody seems to be feeling a financial crunch right now. Is it the increase in gas prices? Kid in college?
Do you have a habit that seems to drain your finances? Smoking? Starbucks, maybe?
What corners do you cut to make ends meet?
Take your lunch to work?
Eat out only where kids eat free?
Pay bills online instead of mailing?
Share your money-saving ideas.

FIDO AND HIS BLING...

Time magazine reported recently that Americans spent $35.9 million on their pets in 2005…up from $17 billion a decade earlier. No details on the expenses.
Do you have a pet? What is the biggest pet-related cost at your house…food, medical, board, obedience classes, clothes?

WHAT MEN DON'T KNOW ABOUT WOMEN...

I read a lot of magazines.

Esquire, a men's magazine, runs a monthly feature that I find amusing. They have a good-looking woman tell 10 things that they feel men don’t know about women. There have been some funny ones.

Sela Ward: Superskinny women really irritate us. We hate when they say, "Sometimes I just forget to eat." Now, I've forgotten my anniversary and where I parked my car. But I've never forgotten to eat.

Kyra Sedgwick: Our friends are not your enemies, and our enemies better not be your friends.

Christina Applegate: Bad shoes are a turnoff. Holding on to your "fancy" old cowboy boots will likely be the first step toward the end of a relationship.

Mariska Hargitay: It's not the size of the bed that matters; it's the thread count.

What would you say that men don’t know about women?

FOOD, FAMILY, FRIENDS AND SPIDER SPUD...

Sid and I had a weekend of food, family, friends and fun. It started Friday night with us catching up with good friends, Milton and Cindy Whatley, over dinner at Nick's. Milton is a former pastor of our church and performed our wedding ceremony and I have worked with Cindy at another newspaper. Milton recently moved from a church in Leland to one in South Jackson. We discussed who's reading what and what we want to read but haven't had the time.

We celebrated Valentine's Day Saturday. We started off with a great meal at Julep's and then went to hear the Mississippi Symphony present Simply Sinatra with Steve Lippia. What a night.

Yesterday, grandson Rowan came to visit. He announced to his mother that he'd sleep in his room if he could have a Spiderman Mr. Potato Head to protect him. So...I found him one for Valentine's Day.

It's Spider Spud. We also got him Optimash Prime. It's a Mr. Potato Head transformed into Optimus Prime, the leader of the Autobots. Funny to see these toys resurface after all these years. While he was over we had to drive his Mustang, go for a walk, hit the baseball, build a colored fire in the chimenea and watch Peyton Manning.

I cooked salmon, cous cous and broccoli but he chose six leftover Sonic cheese sticks and some Whoppers topped off with a fudgecicle(grandmothers can do this).

It was a fabulous weekend.

WHAT DOES YOUR PURSE SAY ABOUT YOU?

If you didn't know me, and you looked in my purse, you'd probably guess that my job is high stress because you'd see lots of Prilosec and Excedrin. Or you might decide that gut aches and migraines run in my family.

It's organized inside and always contains my Hobo clutch that I love. There's a Steno pad that contains my "lists" of everything, a Blackberry for work and my personal cell phone. There's an extra set of keys to my car...just in case, my tinted prescription glasses and my favorite shade of lipstick.

So...what does your purse say about you?

What kind of purse do you carry?

Do you prefer to buy several inexpensive ones or do you splurge on one that you carry for years?

Do you go for the bright and flamboyant or basic colors and style?

Is your purse very organized or does it resemble a Hefty garbage bag?

Is it small or could you stuff most anything in there?

What is the most money you’ve ever spent on a purse?

If you could buy any purse you wanted, what would it be?

If someone would look into your purse right now, what is the most unusual/funny thing they’d see?

CAN YOU BELIEVE THIS?

Rescuers found 11-month-old Kyson Stowell alive in a field after tornadoes destroyed homes in Castalian Springs, Tennessee. They thought his body was a doll among the debris. His mother was one of six people killed in the small community. God has plans for him.

IT'S UNUSUAL...

People, we have a Tom Jones update. The 67-year-old heartthrob has insured his chest hair for $7 million.
Question is, what could possibly happen to it? God forbid, if it caught fire it'd grow back. I don't understand. I'm sure my mother could have explained it to me. I think it's unusual.
But please...just one last time...for Carlton.
